Well we went for a walk a couple of weeks ago and a little girl was walking along with her mum. The dogs were yapping away, like they do so I pulled them to the side to let the 2 walk past as I know some people do not like dogs, especially children. Instead the little girl, who was around 7, walked straight over and started petting them and giving them all the fuss in the world. The boys were fine with her and after a while I asked if she wanted to hold Harley, she jumped at the opportunity and picked him up and cuddled him non stop. He didn't moan once and just let her fuss over him, holding him in her arms. She then went on to pick Dylan up who is a little bigger than Harley but he didn't mind at all... The little girl even picked Sally up who, to the girl was quite big and didn't really fit in her arms. Sallys been used to me as I grew up so she didn't care. What I can say though is what I saw in that little girl was me as a child picking a dog up that was way too big for me (Em, my collie cross). Anyway, thats tracking away from the subject. This girl loved dogs and was clearly very dog savvy with a dog at home. We still think the boys would be best in an adult only home, that is calm with maybe older children. Mainly because Harley can be a little grumpy and can get very... moody when being groomed. The problem is as he is not used to being brushed he doesn't like it... especially his tail as I've learnt. But this does not mean they can't be around children, trust me they love them and have lived with them previously. In my opinion it would be fine, as long as the child was dog savvy and understood when to leave a dog alone. I think this is the good time to mention this guide for children about dogs - http://positively.com/2011/05/05/dog-child-safetyguide/.
Right now thats that story, the boys both now eat dry food so don't really need the wet food anymore. We still give it them but its less of a necessity any more. Harley is becoming very greedy and will eat just about anything you put in front of him. Note to self he can't have puppy pouches... they made him sick for some unknown reason. My boyfriend has just being to visit again and is staying for a few weeks much to the boys delight. They absolutely love him and from the minute he was in the door they were both cuddled up to him and fast asleep on him in minutes. Seriously I think they like him more than me. Haha. For now I think thats it. Still need to get round to fleaing and worming these 2 and they're probably due their second vaccinations soon... wow times flown. These poor boys really do need a forever loving home.
Thats all for now, Lucy, Harley, Dylan and Ginge (Sally)
