Poor Chewie

Chewie is feeling very sorry for himself following his neutering op. He's still a little drugged up and just wants to sleep but he is starting to come around a bit now and trying to play. His tail still wags when he sees you though and I must admit I enjoyed snuggling up to him on the sofa while he was fast asleep. Gosh I love this boy haha. The operation did go well though and he must have recovered quickly as I could pick him up after 2 as opposed to normally having to wait till 4. He has to go back on Saturday for a check but I imagine he'll be fine when all the drugs have worn off, just a little sore and sad about the loss of his manhood.

Peggy also had a trip to the vets today to get her anal glands cleaned following her biting her nails which appears to be her sign of them being full (strange I know). This seems to be recurrent in Peggy so this must be taken into account by her new owners. We are going to try her on a non grain diet to see if this will improve and help them clear naturally.

Thats pretty much it for now,

Viewing Already!

Yay, the family who enquired about Chewie would like to come view him so thats been arranged for Friday with the lady and her dog then if all goes well we'll will do another viewing over the weekend then hopefully send him off to his new home. Chewie really is the perfect dog, he has no little quirks to mention about and I just can't exagerate that enough. It's nice having a perfect dog again, one that gets rehomed within days rather than months. When he goes though it only means we have space for another one to come in :D I swear if I had the room and the rescue didn't need me I would keep Chewie in a heartbeat. He's just gone to the vets for the day to be neutered and a part of me already misses him. He had a much better night last night and slept on my floor all night, only deciding to come snuggle me under the covers at 5 oclock in the morning haha.

I can't remember what else I was going to say, to be honest I'm still half asleep. haha. So I'll update tomorrow with how he is after being neutered.

Peggy in the Snow

Keep forgetting to post this. So heres Peggy really enjoying the snow. Its amazing what difference a week in weather can make but this is what it was like last week. She really enjoyed playing in it with Tinks and it was so difficult getting the two of them in!

Such a good boy!

That is the only way to describe Chewie. He really is the perfect kind of dog, the one bad thing, he doesn't like cats but hey, not all dogs do do they? haha. He really is a good boy. He just wants to play and have fun. He will go to the door when he wants to go out, then come back when hes done his business, and he has reasonably good recall considering he's only been here a day. Chewie is just amazing, I really have fallen for him! But no matter what anyone says I will not adopt another dog, not until we lose Sally anyway because I don't want to stop fostering.

Chewie did find it hard to settle last night and did cry a lot, I think he just wanted to keep playing all night, or maybe it was been in a new environment. He does have a lot of energy! He will need a few walks a day to burn all his energy and preferably one before bed to wind him down. He is good on the lead, he does pull but he isn't very strong as he has quite a slim frame. We are going to try him on a harness to see if that will improve the pulling slightly. Because hes so scruffy Chewie will need a daily brush, which isn't so bad since he quites enjoys the attention. Just to stop him getting any lugs.

Chewie is due to go to the vets tomorrow to get him neutered then he will be on his way to getting a new home.

Believe it or not an enquiry has already been made about him! A family are wanting to adopt a dog as a friend for their saluki x, who will be as energetic as she is. So I really hope they come to see him because they sound like they'd be good for him and all his energy.

Meet Chewieee!

So this scruffy young boy is Coby, who we have renamed Chewie! He's a yorkshire terrier x ??? Haha. We think it may be border in there but he is a little big for both breeds. He's a little bigger than Sally but I'd only class him as a medium dog.

So as you can see he came quite scruffy looking so me being me immediately bathed him, brushed him and cut out some luggy hair. Now he is looking much better!

Chewie is a loving dog and loves attention, he even loves being brushed. As long as your fussing him thats all that matters. He used to live with a 7 year old so could be rehomed with children but as always I'd say they should be dog savvy, as he is very dopey and could knock small children over without even realising. He has been really good with these 3 and totally ignored Tinks when she decided to tell him she was boss (she wishes). Peggy has totally taken to him and thinks hes one attractive boy, which he is!

Chewie loves to play with toys, he has one ball which he absolutely loves, the only problem is its like a brick and he does need plenty of space around him when hes playing with it haha. He will rip weak toys up, so needs the strong, hard ones. He does need to learn to take it easy with toys as he will snatch them out of your hand instead of taking it out nicely. He will wait for you to play fetch with him though, which he is very good at!

He does seem to have basic training, he can sit and I'm sure he has the intelligence to learn more so I may try that with him. He is only a young boy after all and he does act like hes a puppy!

So thats Chewie, keep looking out for him on the website cause when he's on there it won't take long for someone to fall for him, I already have!

Toby has a home!!!

So this morning we went as planned to drop Toby off and after having a whiney boy for the full journey, he was quite happy to remeet his new owner. Although he was nervous, and did spend more time noseying around the full house rather than paying her attention it was nice to see him get used to his surroundings and give her a present on her rug. I'm so happy for him and he really does have the perfect owner he needs to deal with his little quirks. She was so happy with him and I think he was happy with her... I mean look at the kiss of approval!

So we do have another foster dog lined up now! He is due to come in about an hour and I honestly don't know much about him. He's a male yorkshire terrier x, 4 years old. He hasn't had the best start in life and was kept in horrible conditions before his current owner had him and which is why she got him out. So thats it... I'll update shortly about him.

More good news is that Peggy has had an enquiry, a couple in Buckinghamshire have asked about her so I need to give them a ring now, tell them more about her then we can get a homecheck sorted before organising a viewing.

So thats all for now, I'll update shortly,

The viewing went....

FANTASTIC! So fantastic that Toby is going to his new home on Monday morning. When the lady came Toby was immediately smitten with her and sat on her knee which immediately made me think she was the one, he sat with her, gave her a kiss, sniffed Teddy, her bichon frise  and was so well behaved. I told the lady all about Toby, his little quirks, to which she didn't even care about. Now they do say the dog chooses the owner and Toby definitely chose her. So after half an hour, she left looking very happy with the visit and so was Toby who was happy all day after that.

In the afternoon she had got back to Rebecca saying she would like to adopt Toby and is also willing to adopt a lhasa or shih tzu should we ever get another one in. Smiles were really all round. Now because Toby is looking a little scruffy the initial plan was to get him cut on Thursday and take him on Friday. The lady was only disappointed in one thing, she couldn't get him sooner as she has all next week off work and wanted to spend time with him. After explaining it was only to sort his hair out she was quite happy to do that herself, even if it did involve getting bit for it, as Toby really has something against clippers. So following all this we decided to arrange a time on Monday to take him to his new home! So 10 oclock it is. My little Christmas boy is going to a new home. He had a bath last night and smells all nice now and is looking very handsome indeed.

Now it is fair to say Toby has certainly attached to me more than I've attached to him but I still feel it will be sad seeing him go. He is such a loyal young boy and the house will definitely be different without him.

Peggy is still needing her new home though so I don't think any more foster dogs are planning to come until she goes... or at least until theirs an emergency dog coming in. Thats rescue life for you though, you never know whats going to happen next.

Now I will update on monday when we will be one dog less.

Toby Viewing!!!

So I am very excited to say Toby has a viewing arranged for tomorrow. After speaking to the lady on the phone and explaining that Toby is a little bipolar she brushed it all to the side and would like to come view him. She has a bichon frise who is a total wimp and won't react to Toby should he decide to snap so lets hope for the best tomorrow then Toby could be on his way to going to a new home!!!

Thats all for now, I'll try update tomorrow but Dans coming round so don't know if I'll find the time.

No News is...

.... bad news I'm afraid. Sorry I haven't updated but unfortunately there is nothing to update on. The people who were meant to come and view Peggy backed out last minute, saying they needed to think about it a little longer before making a commitment. :( We did have one enquiry about Toby but unfortunately that fell through when the lady realised we were too far away to come and visit him.

The more Toby settles here the more his bipolar attitude becomes apparent. Don't get me wrong Toby is a lovely boy and loves nothing more than to snuggle up with me but he has to have things his own way. He will growl if you try take food or toys away from him and may snap if you don't back off but the next minute all he'll want is for you too fuss him. We have decided that Tobys behaviour when people leave the house will never change. Through his time here we are still yet to decide what is provoking it. Some times he will not react at all and has only ever reacted to me leaving twice, my dad however seems to get yapped at most of the time he leaves, even more so when I'm in the house so it is nothing to do with him being left. He has also yapped at people visiting the house leaving, but these were men so whether it's men he has an issue with leaving I don't know but he's not got anything against men in general. He loved Dan when he was over, but that may be because Dan was here when he first came and was good with my dad after the first week. He definitely does choose to bond closely with one person though and will attach to them all he can, he even gets to the point of sitting in the bathroom with me when I'm in the bath. He is very protective of the owner hes bonded to and if Peggy comes up to me wanting to play he will growl at her. Peggy just ignores him though and will only growl to say shutup haha. She is such a friendly girl :)

Peggy is loving the snow! She will spend hours in it if she can, just walking around sniffing the ground. She has been happily chasing around with Tinks. It really is the joys of snow, watching dogs play in it and have so much fun.

I will get round to posting pictures and a video but I still have a lot of college work to do so please wait patiently and they should appear soon...ish. haha

Viewing Tomorrow!

So hope everyone and their doggy companions are making the most of this weather, Tinks certainly does love it, according to her it feels nice on her tongue :P

So the main reason I'm posting is to say Peggy has a viewing! A family who already own 2 jack russels would like to rescue a third and are very interested in Peggy, so she has a viewing for tomorrow at 10 in the morning :) I know as soon as they see her and watch her running around all happy like a younger dog would they won't be able to not want her. If thats the case a second viewing will be arranged then hopefully she'll have a new home. So fingers crossed for tomorrow, unfortunately I don't have time to bath her which is my usual viewing procedure haha. But she isn't exactly dirty so she'll be fine haha. Anyway fingers crossed for tomorrow and I'll update then.

Unfortunately we've had no interest in Toby and he's still here been his cute self, waiting for the right person to come along.

So thats all for now, Lucy, Tinks, Peggy, Toby and Sally x

No News Really

Apologies for not posting in a while but there really is no new news. We still have Peggy and Toby and Peggy is settling in just fine. I still can't believe she is 10 years old, she acts like the youngest dog in this house, bear in mind that Tinks is 2. haha. She gets very easily bored when she's awake and if theres no toys around and your busy she will bark at you for attention. She is starting to settle now though and doesn't growl all night because of little noises. Toby is doing well, he still likes to attack people when they leave the house and nothing we do is stopping that. I can't think of anything that provokes him, except time wasting. When your ready to go, don't diddle daddle, don't say bye, just walk out, quickly and quietly lol. We now have a gate up at the bottom of our steps to prevent any more runaways so lets hope that will stop any future worries. I genuinely can't think of anything to say, so enjoy some photos of these 2.

Right I have college work to do                           and I have an awful cold so thats me for now, Lucy, Tinks, Toby, Peggy and Sally x

Bad News I'm Afraid

Unfortunately the couple that were supposed to come view Toby and Peggy yesterday backed out last saying they wanted a bigger dog so we were all left very disappointed.

So maybe I should tell you a little about Peggy. Peggy is a 10 year old jack russel who is such a young girl at heart. She is the typical mad jack russel and absolutely loves to play with toys. Any toy she finds she will pick up and rag around, just wanting to play all the time. She also loves to be outside and has so much energy, she needs her long walks. Peggy will need a secure garden and very good door control as we discovered yesterday when she managed to bolt out before dad had a chance to pull her back inside. She had a nice run around and was finally found an hour later, near enough to our house, which makes us wonder where she went. Peggy loves dogs and is very friendly with them so would need to be rehomed with another friendly dog. She loves everyone she meets, she really is an active friendly girl who seems alot younger than her actual age. So looks like she'll be foster dog 14 now and I'll keep you updated as per usual :)

Big Update :)

Right so I've been a bit busy since I last posted and have stayed over at my friends for a couple of days to celebrate the new year so I haven't had time to update.

Firstly I must wish everyone a Happy New Year :D

Now unfortunately, although the viewing with the people went well, they decided they'd like a bigger dog for their labrador retriever, which is totally understandable. At the same time though I was rather disappointed as the couple seemed so lovely. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I would like to mention though that Toby is very nervous with new people, he hid behind my legs alot of the time during the viewing and I had to keep moving to make him actually go see the visitors. As I know though you can't go by first impressions, he may be nervous at first but when he knows you he will be your best friend :)

Today Toby has being cat tested and its fair to say he passed! Toby is not fussed with cats what so ever, he had a sniff but that was it, if anything he was scared of Lees cat Finn. As you can see by the picture he was a bit nervous and stressed being in a new environment and with Lees mad barking house but he really wasn't bothered by Finn.

Now as the cat test went well it was time to test him with Peggy, the jrt who was in the rescue a couple of months back, but due to no fault of her own shes back in rescue. The aim was to see how they were together and if all went well to pair them up for a potential owner. So I took him and they were both fine together, Toby had a little jealous snap when she went near to him while he was on my knee but she didn't react which was just perfect.

So, as that all went well, guess who came home with us today? Yep, Peggy. Shes a lovely little girl, who loves to scoff any food she can find in the house and loves to play with balls.

Now on to the big news. Tomorrow, Toby and Peggy have a viewing arranged with a lady who has donated a lot to the rescue who would like 2 cat friendly dogs. So these 2 would just be perfect. So if it goes well Toby and Peggy may be going to their new home. Now since this is happening I'm not going to class Peggy as a proper foster dog as she would only be here a day but we will wait and see what tomorrow will bring... then see what is next :)
